Does Prolonged Use Of Laxatives Cause Severe Dehydration In A Person?
Hi..is the following a possible scenario? The sudden stopping of years of opiad pain managment and subsequent chronic use of laxatives cause the bowels to freeze up ,causing a blockage which in turn causes severe dehydration and ultimately heart failure?....ty
Dehydration may happen with diarrhea. If the bowel is not working well and is "blocked", dehydration is unlikely. Thus, heart failure due to dehydration in this scenario is unlikely as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
