Does Quitting Cigarette And Marijuana Cause Chest Pain?

I have had lower throat and upper chest/lung pains for a few weeks now. I've been to a GI and he doesn't think I have GERD or anything because I have no reflux...only gas. I quit smoking cigarettes and marijuana recently. I didn't smoke that much cigarettes, but the ones I smoked were harsher than normal..."full flavor" types. As for the pot...I smoked a LOT for a LONG time to combat anxiety, depression, chronic pain from back surgeries, etc. Curious if what I am experiencing can be just from quitting these two things.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It's great that you have left smoking and Marijuana. And this won't cause any chest pain. Since you are also having gas trouble, possibility of acute gastritis related chest pain is more likely. So take Pantoprazole and Levosulperide combination. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid junk food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals. Go for walking after meals. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm because stress and anxiety can also worsen gastritis. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Please don't start smoking again.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
