Does Reduction In Dilantin Dose Cause Sweating And Shakiness?
I take Dilantin and was in the hospital a week ago with phenytoin toxicity, 155 instead of 60-80. I went to emerg for a head injury that happened during an episode. I mentioned that I was feeling unusually dizzy and clumsy. They kept me until the level went down to 137 then sent me home, suggesting a reduction in dose. Two days later I feel very sweaty and shaky. Is that due to the reduction of Dilantin, and is it normal?
Hi Thank yoy for posting your query in HCM. Phenytoin over dose toxicity occurs when the dose of drug reaches beyond 30micro gram per dl., this results in central nervous systemdepression, lethary, blurred vision, dizziness. I would suggest you to have regular check up with your concerned doctor . Dizzyness will persists till the drug dose gets reduced to its normal dose in the blood.Hope i have answered all your questions , if you have further questions i will be happy to help you.
