Does Sciatica Cause Sudden Pain In The Buttocks And Thighs Along With Weakness In The Legs?

I’ve developed sudden onset pain left buttocks, left inner ,upper thigh pain, lateral hip pain as well. Some weakness in leg, difficulty standing from sitting position, but am able to walk fairly well after initial “straightening up” Could this be sciatica?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Sciatica presents with sharp pain on the buttocks and upper thigh. As a first line of management you can try analgesics like Gabapentin or Tramadol for pain relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopedics and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
