Does Seizure Affect The Chances Of Pregnancy?

Hi Dr. Keerthi, I m Archana of 28 yrs old. I have experienced seizures a couple of time and my doctor advised to use Lamosyn Tablets. I have been using that for about 4 yrs. I am planning to get married. Is it safe to become pregnant and give feeding to the baby. Thanks for your answer

Hi,

The intake of antiepileptic drugs doesn't affect your chance of getting pregnant as long as your periods are regular. The only concern is that you take periconceptional folic acid starting at least 6 weeks before pregnancy till 3 months of pregnancy and meet your doctor to change the type, number and dose of your drugs before planning pregnancy as some drugs might affect the fetus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anjali jain
