i have a roommate.. she has been complaining of some personal problems in detail.. we share towels,underwear,clothes etc. I have recently been getting the same issues she has. I went to the doctor and I was diagnosed with chlamydia.. Did i get it from her because I have only had 1 sex partner and I havent had these problems very long and they only started happening when she came and moved in. age 18,female

The likely possible source of infection of chlamydia in your case is your room mate.Yes certainly even though chlamydia is known to be transmitted sexually,certain behaviours like sharing undergarments have high risk of transmitting the infection.I advise you to refrain from such high risk behaviour.Drugs like azithromycin 1 gm for 1-3 days is all sufficient to eliminate the infection at the earlier stages.Also practise barrier methods of contraception while having sex with your boyfriend until the infection completely resolves.Discuss the above treatment with your gynecologist.Post your queries,if any.
