Does Sharp Pain In The Lower Abdomen During Pregnancy Needs Medical Attention?

Hi, my name is Madeline and I m about 18 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I developed a very sharp pain in my lower stomach on my left side, also where the baby is located. It s very painful and kind of worries me. I ve read it is normal but not too convinced. Is everything okay?

HI,
I understand your concern.
At 18 weeks of pregnancy, sharp pain in lower abdomen only once need not be worried for. It can be just collected gases/ constipation/ unusual body movements .
But if the pain is recurrent & is associated with leaking amniotic fluidl/ some urinary problem/increased vaginal discharge / vaginal bleeding... it's a point of concern. You should-
- Take rest/ have light diet/ consult your doctor for examination & management.
Thanks.
