My husband has Parkinson s Disease for 12 years already. He was doing well with his medications until last May when all of a sudden he started having low blood pressure problems. The doctors advice was to eat more salt, drink more water and sit before standing up after lying down. After that didn t work, they started him on Midodrine to address the issue. In time it seemed to lessen the episodes but they have recently become more frequent. He also has sinusitis which becomes acute every so often and it seems to subside when treated with an antibiotic but it reoccurs very frequently. My question is, could the sinus problems be more responsible for his dizzy spells than the low blood pressure?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes it is possible that sinusitis may cause pharyngitis or eustachian tube edema and middle ear infection and vertigo. Avoid cold drinks and chilled water avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Avoid allergens and decongestant medication, if symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
