Does Smoking After Removal Of Surgery Has Ill Affect?
I had my tonsils out last Monday (about 10 days ago) and I am a smoker. This is my 11th day with no cigarette and I was wondering when it would be safe to have a cigarette. My surgeon told me it s two weeks healing time, but I don t know if that means I can smoke after that. I m worried if I smoke too soon it will increase the risks even more that come with smoking. Thank you
I went through the history you have provided here. It seems from the history that you you have undergone tonsil surgery. The wound requires 2-3 weeks to heal and smoking during this period will cause delay in healing and may result in secondary infection. Hence you should avoid smoking. Though smoking is not at all advisable smoking now is dangerous hence should avoid it strictly.
Hope this is helpful to you. Thank you for writing to us.
