I had an Aortic Valve replacement with a mechanical st jude valve. I started smoking majuirana again couple times a day. I know its bad for you and I need to quit, my question is if i continue smoking will it shorten my life span? and by how much? I am a 27 tr old male. thank you
Hi welcome to HCM. Smoking marijuana has certainly abnormal actions on the cardiovascular system especially the mechanical heart valves .Smoking weed can lead to increased thromboses of the blood passing through the mechanical heart valve. This can even reduce the lifespan of the artificial aortic valve.Incase if you to continue to smoke the lifespan can be reduced by 20 years.Hence i recommend you to give up smoking marijuana.Consult an expert de addiction specialist. Thank you.
