Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a stiff neck on the right side very painful. I started taking cefadroxil and it appears to help. Could I have a swollen or infected lymph node . The discomfort started several inches up from the base of my neck. Wondering if there is anything I should be concerned about? I can now move my neck to the right pain free . Before the cefadroxil I went to a chiropractor and it didn t help. I do have RA wondering if there is a connection.
Enlarged lymph node in neck is very common condition and needs proper evaluation.
Most common reason for enlarged lymph node is usually infection, so we can start antibiotic regime and look for results. There is enlarged lymph node in malignancy also. If there is no improvement then we will need to investigate in form of complete blood count, ESR, CRP,RA test, tuberculin test, and Fine needle aspiration cytology or open biopsy.
So I will advise you to consult a specialist and do further investigation.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
