Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
currently in the process of fertility monitoring. Husband was required to give a semen analysis, but upon orgasm after 3 days of no intercourse, he wasn't able to produce much semen. Could a man's stress level cause him not to produce an accurate semen amount ?
Severe stress level can reduce the volume of male ejaculate & hence total volume of semen as well as sperm count up to 30%. Also, a high stress level may increase the level of glucocorticoids in the blood, which may lower the level of testosterone hormone resulting in lower production of semen as well as sperms. However, intermediatary or low level of stress seems to have very negligible or zero effect on sperm production as compared to a stage of high level stress.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
