Does Sulfasalazine Cause Any Harm To Baby During Pregnancy?
My husband is taking sulfasalazine for ankylosing spondylitis and we want to try to conceive a baby. I understand that this medication affects sperm count and sperm motility. I understand these problems are reversible if he stops the medication for 1-2 months. However, if he misses even a day of this medication, he is in pain most of the day. So, if it s safe, we want to try our luck with conception while he is taking this drug. My question is, if we are lucky enough to get pregnant while he is taking this medication, could it harm the baby in any way (i.e. increased risk for birth defects or other genetic abnormalities)?
