Does Swelling And Pain In The Knee Indicate Torn Ligament?
I got orthoscopic surgery on my knee almost a year ago to repair a torn ACL and meniscus (note: they repaired the meniscus). I sprinted the other day and my knee started cracking. It became swollen and it was painful to walk. This happened on Monday, it is not Wednesday and the pain decreased but it is still there and there is a swollen lump on the right side of my knee cap. What should I do? I m afraid I tore a ligament a gain but I have been walking on it.
You may need MRI to see for ligament injury due to exertion.
Possibility of antigenic reaction is there. Antigenic reaction may be aseptic.
You may need blood investigation like CBC, CRP, ESR, bone scan or joint Aspirate. You need to do proper physiotherapy protocol to strengthen your quadriceps and hamstring muscles.
Knee support like knee cap or hinged knee brace will be helpful.
