Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. My mother was diagnosed with pericarditis about 5 months back. The doctor suspected the cause due to TB and was prescribed AKT 4 for 2 months. During the course of treatment she developed tiredness, nausea/vomiting which she could withstand. A few weeks back my mother was prescribed with AKT 3 and she has now started developing lower back pain. I would like to know if this is normal.
Cannot say in her particular case. Nausea and vomiting from antibiotics are really common. The throwing up or other usual muscle use can cause back ache. The lower back pain cannot say. Pain can usually be localized by the person having it (outside or inside) and this localizes what is actually hurting. Muscles on the outside are not likely to be due directly to an antibiotic but strains from vomiting can hurt them. Internal pain with an antibiotic could be serious and needs to be looked at.
