Does Taking Amoxicillin, Hydrocodone And Ibuprofen Cause Hiccups?

Hi. I am Santosh Kenkare. I had a dental surgery under General Anesthesia 3 days ago. After the surgery I was asked to take Amoxicillin 500mg thrice a day and alternate between Hydrocodone and Ibuprufen 600mg every 6 hours. I started hiccups about 10hours after surgery. Are any of these drugs related to hiccups?

Hello Santosh! Yes, Antibiotics like Amoxycillin and NSAIDS like ibuprofen van cause gastritis, increase the acidity and thereby cause hiccups. If I were your doctor and the drugs were necessary, I'd add antacids and drugs that reduce the acid secretion. Hope I have answered your question.
