Does Taking Cartia Causes Loss Of Appetite?

My mother is taking Cartia. She is not hungry and needs to start eating as she is down to 110 pounds. We suspect the medication may cause this problem. Can the medicine be suspended for about five days to see if this theory is correct, and then be resumed after the test period?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cartia is a brand name of aspirin which is one of the commonly prescribed drug world wide and doesn't cause loss of appetite or weight loss as a side effect. It is used to increase blood flow to heart and brain and you can not stop it without the permission of your treating physician, withholding aspirin can cause stroke or angina especially in elderly patients. you can put him on an alternative while withholding aspirin like Clopilet or Ecospirin.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
