Does Taking Diltiazem And Cefuroxime Together Cause High Blood Pressure Levels?
I have AFib and high blood pressure. It is controlled with 90 mg Diltiiazem x 3 a day. I just started yesterday Cefuroxime Axetil 500 mg tab x 2 a day for a bladder infection. My blood pressure is up and I feel awful. Could this be a bad reaction
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Cefuroxime is a safe drug and is not found to cause rise in blood pressure, however any stress can rise BP temporarily, so I would suggest you continue your drugs and keep checking BP, if was persistently high, then you need to be worried; may be we need to add another drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
