Does Taking Remicide Cause Periods To Become Irregular?

Hi. I am having abnormal uterine bleeding (diagnosed last night in ER). I recently had Pap smear done-normal, hormone levels done-normal. I recently started Remicade infusions for UC. I have done some research and have found many women online who are on Remicade or have been on it,and they have said that it affected their menstrual cycles, in different ways. My gastroenterologist doesn t think it s connected and neither did the ER. Dr. Last night. But why else would I suddenly have a period that is 8 days long, and counting, whee on ave. I am expelling about 30 blood clots a day and going through a dozen pads a day?

thanks for your query in HCM,

Remicade is infliximab, which is given for ulcerative colitis, the major adverse effects are upper respiratory tract infections, activation of tuberculosis, increase in opportunistic infections.

your excessive bleeding is not related to Remicade. so please consult a good gynaecologist and get evaluated for that

thank you
