Does Taking I-pill Before Sex Provide Protection?

Hello Doctor, My wife has period on 10th July. She had not taken regular birth control pills this month. We had unprotected sex on 25th. After that she took I pill on 27th. We again had sex on 27th after she took i pill. I wanted to know does the pill protect for sex after the pill is taken. If not what are the ways i can do to protect her from being pregnant.

Hello,
I pill is meant to be taken after the unprotected sex and not before the sex.
Repeated use of I pill can play havoc with the natural hormonal balance of your wife and this may cause problem in future pregnancies.
It is better to opt for other methods of contraception like condoms birth control pills, injectable depoprovera etc.
Discuss with your doctor about the method which can be used by your wife.
Thanks
