Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has had stomach pains that go around his side to his back. It is not all the time, but is several times a day. He says it feels like a rock and it pretty much buckles him to the floor. He called his doctor and they referred him to the emergency room saying it could be his appendix or a hernia (sp) or possibly a blood clot (he has a history with them and takes shot daily for his blood). They ran scans and didn t show anything but said that his rectum was empty and it looked like he had stool stored in him that might have been pushing on his intestines etc. So they sent him home telling him to take laxatives and a liquid diet of foods you don t have to chew. He has taken laxatives for three days now .. pain is still there and has not went to the bathroom. Suggesstions???
Thanks for asking. As I can see he has been on laxatives but has not had motion since three days. It is bit of concern here, and is suggestive of GI obstruction. Moreover pain in abdomen indicate caution. I would suggest to go for a second opinion and this time get an USG abdomen with other investigations.
