Does Taking Thyronorm For Long Term Have Any Side Effects?
Is there any permanent remedy for thyroid problem without taking pills. As since 1 year I am taking thyronorm 100 mcg everyday... bcuz dues to TSH extra secretion as well as mild enlargement of right gland. I am 36 years old. Do I have any side effects if I take the pills life long..? Please advise...

HI
Thanks for posting your query .
Very sorry to say that there is no permanent solution for Hypothyroidism . You have to take Thyronorm tablets lifelong but in my practice I have seen that in 5-10% of Hypothyroid patients the requirement of dose of Thyronorm decreases and eventually becomes nil . It may or may not happen to you but till then you need to continue taking medications .
I have used Thyronorm on many of my patients for many years and found it to be safe . The only problem it may cause is bone weakening so I advise you to take Calcium supplements also along with Thyronorm .
Any further clarifications feel free to ask .
