Does The Body Become Immune To Birth Control Pills If Same Pills Are Used For 16 Years?

Hi, I have been on triphasil for 16 years. The last year or so I have been having spotting a week before my period is due, this month however there was no spotting, could I be pregnant? I have been using birth control for 16 years without a scare now I am very frightened. And also can you body become immune to the same birth control after 16 years?
