I am 30 yrs old and my weight is 59 kg and height is 5.1...My T3 adn T4 is normal and TSH is 7.36 ...with the advise of doctor i m taking thyronorm 50 mcg tablets daily morning...i want to ask is it enough to control thyroid as i m planning for child also
Hello and welcome! Usually 50 mcg of levothyroxine is the starting dose, but having into consideration your body weight and the TSH level i would say it will be the appropriate dose. After 6 weeks check the TSH again and it should be under 2.5 if you are planning for pregnancy. Once you have a positive pregnancy test you should raise the dose by 30% and check the TSH every 4 weeks. During pregnancy is very important to have normal TSH levels. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
