Does Typhoid Vaccine Cause Side Effects Like Diarrhea, abdominal Pain, fatigue And Appetite Loss?
I have a daughter who is taking a J-Term college class in Ecuador, Galapagos. Before she left, she had some severe stomach pain. We thought it was because of the side effects from the typhoid vaccine that she had been taking. Since she s been there (Jan. 4) she has had severe diarrhea, abdominal pain in the upper portion that comes an goes. She s really tired and has no appetite.
Hi and welcome to HCM. Like any medicine, a vaccine could cause a serious problem, such as a severe allergic reaction. The risk of typhoid vaccine causing serious harm, or death, is extremely small. Serious problems from either typhoid vaccine are very rare. If its Inactivated Typhoid Vaccine (Shot) Mild Reaction like Fever (up to about 1 person per 100), Headache (up to about 1 person in 30) and Redness or swelling at the site of the injection (up to about 1 person in 15) may occur. If its Live Typhoid Vaccine (Oral) reactions like Fever or headache (up to about 1 person in 20), Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, rash (rare) may occur. I advice u to contact doctor if diarrhea and abdominal pain worsens. Regards
