Does Use Of Cocaine Cause Nose Bleeds And Bloody Cough?
Hi i m a flight attendant and 15 min before landing during the decente a passenger woke up and started bleeding from the nose and coughing blood in a serious way. Blood clot was all over the place and the passenger looks he had passed out and look confused. We gave him oxygen and look he came back to himself a bit. I am wondering what can cause this. Some blood clots was so big and he had lost so much blood. Maybe the altitude did not help too. Just wondering what could happen. Maybe the passenger when diving the same day? Or maybe he party very hard ? Does a cocaine user can have such symptomes ?
While cocaine CAN, the changes in pressures did it. This is common in people with certain lung and heart diseases who are cautioned NOT to FLY. If the pressure in the lung blood vessels is HIGH and the pressure in the AIR is LOW......... Statistically, it isn't cocaine which is in a young population and if you are fit enough to use it, you won't have the blood clot issue. And regular medical conditions can do this and not have much bleeding except with low pressure. Also, if someone had just done scuba diving right before even if they were an Olympic swimmer the change in altitude would give them severe altitude sickness with this.
More good news, highly contagious tuberculosis will also do this.
