I am 51 yrs old feel pain in my lower left abdomen every time my period is coming and its gone after... i had my transvaginal ultrasound two weeks ago and got the result they found uterus is slightly bulky measuring 9.5 x 6.8 x 6.2 cm and contains three fibroids, a small one anteriorly measuring 1.8 cm and the two posterior ones measuring 5.4 and 2.9 cm. Endometrial thickness is 8 mm. Both ovaries are ormal with follicles. the dominant one is a hemorrhagic follicle in the left ovary measuring 16 mm. no free fluid or adnexal masses. I want to ask your opinion do i need a surgery for these? I am now on my Perimenopausal period. Please help me. Thank you
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood your concern. Though you have fibroids in your uterus, two of them smaller relatively while the third is large enough to ask for removal, considering your age, I feel you can be observed. If you have any associated complication like heavy periods and constant pain etc., then surgery should definitely be suggested. Please have regular follow up to monitor the fibroids. Maintain a healthy diet, healthy weight and adequate exercise. Once menopause is attained, the fibroids shrink as the blood supply dwindles. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
