Hi, We are trying to conceive for 4 months now. Went for a general check up. My fertility doctor observed abnormality in the sonography of my endometrium. She suspected polyps. She instructed me to do usg pelvis. The report of the test states the following a well defined rounded polypoid echogenic focus measuring 0.6x 0.5 cm sized is seen attached to endometrium. A quick doppler shows a vascular pedicle. I need your opinion to understand if the polyp needs surgical removal or is small enough to ignore ? She suggesting removal but the report states tiny polyp. How does it affect our chances ? Would be grateful for your opinion
Hi, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. It is true that the polyp is small in size and is likely to be expelled spontaneously during a natural period. Yet, since you are trying to conceive and implantation may be erratic or progress of the pregnancy may be impaired due to the presence of the polyp in the endometrial cavity, I would suggest removal through hysteroscopy, if you are fit for it. The vascularity of such polyps is increased during pregnancy and hence, complications may arise. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
