Hi,
Valparin 200 oral solution contains
sodium valproate which belongs to the group of medications known as anti epileptics is used to treat
epilepsy. It is very safe and effective medication for children with epilepsy. This medicine may take several weeks to work. It is important that your child takes Valparin regularly so that they have fewer seizures or convulsions.
The doctor will start your child on a low dose and then gradually increase it over a few days or weeks as your child gets used to the medicine and depending on how they respond. Don't stop taking it, even if your baby becomes fine, unless your child's doctor advises to do so. Side effects of Valparin are
vomiting, tremor, sleepiness, weight gain, hair loss, increased appetite,
diarrhea, fever, yellow coloured skin or eyes,
skin rash, sneezing, dry or scaly skin, allergic reactions etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
