Hi I've been on the pill for probably about a year now but sometimes miss 2-5 days inbetween batches due to not being able to get it at the moment. Just recently, I was off of it for 5 days, and only back on it for 3 when I had protected sex. When pulling out after cumming, the condom stayed in me and I was scared cum may have gotten in me so I took the morning after pill within the next hour. About 2 weeks later (now) I got a very dark brown discharge and I don't know what it means. Because i'm on the pill I don't have monthly periods so I don't know how else to know if that means pregnancy unless I take a test. Should I be concerned that I am pregnant or can the discharge be a result of me taking the pill with the symptom "irregular menstral cycle" ?
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
First of all, a pregnancy test, if you conceived, will turn positive about 2-3 weeks after conception. So you should start by taking a test. Second, emergency contraception will definitely confuse your cycle. The combination of missed pills and then a large dose of progesterone will likely produce breakthrough bleeding, followed by a delay in your next period. This is to be expected, though I understand that it is confusing. The chance of pregnancy is extremely small, but a pregnancy test now and again in 1 week is recommended. Also, use back up protection until things fall back into a normal pattern.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
