Done Blood Test. Have Pain And Red Patches In Arm. Is This A Cause For Concern?

Hello,

I have a question, 3 days back I had blood test for wellness checkup. After few hours of that I saw red patches in my left arm and pain was there since blood was drawn. Then it started to discolor (red to maroon to bluish black). Today I can see some red streaks in on same place. I need your suggestion to know is it something serious? Or it will go with time?

Hi.Oozing of blood at the local site happens in a few circumstances but most of the times its not a cause of concern.Normally this will subside in a few days (within a weeks time).Apply Thrombophobe ointment local. If it persists still then you may need to get a bleeding time(lab test) and consult your doctor if its not within normal limits.Hope this helps.Take care.

Hi!

welcome to HCM!

Hematomas occur around puncture site Area begins to swell indicating that blood is leaking into the tissues which will result in a bruise, due to partial insertion into the vein or insertion through the vein.it may lead to inflammation of vein too.icing and application of thrombophob ointment will help you!it normally subsides within a week.if it doesnt go in a week then you must consult and get tested for any bleeding or coagulation disorder too!

hope this helps!Take care!
