Done Hysterectomy. Will Ovaries Release Normal Hormones After Hysterectomy?
do the ovaries still release a normal set of hormones after hysterectomy and how long does it take the body to adjust? I am six weeks post op. I had a total hysterectomy, uterus and cervix removed, due to very low iron levels. I notice when it would be that time of the month, my breasts would be very sore. this never happened before the surgery.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Pituitary gland produces various hormones and these hormones stimulate ovaries and its follicles . When ovaries & follicles stimulated they produces , estrogen , progesterone, F S H . L H hormones . As in your case uterus, cervix removed , but ovaries and its follicles are intact and they are producing hormones as usual so need not to worry about that. As far as concerned sore breast , please consult a gynecologist and get his opinion and 2nd option is consult your operating surgeon and get his opinion. However according to me you will adjust according to new situation within 3-6 months. Good luck. Dr. HET
