Done Novasure Ablation. No Periods. Had Unprotected Sex. Ectopic Pregnancy?
I had a novasure ablation and laparoscopic sterilisation on the 11th June. My last period before that was on 6th June and I m not sure why I haven t had a period or any sign of bleeding since. My gynaecologist said that as I would have been going to start a new pack of contraceptive pills on the day after my op it wasn t necessary so I have been having unprotected sex since about 5 days after the op. I had no bleeding and very little discomfort. I am worried that I could be pregnant maybe eptopic as I have not bled since. Should I just take a test to clear this up (in my head) ?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. It is normal not to have periods or only a mild spotting after an endometrial ablation. If your periods are overdue, it is best to test your urine for pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is not likely but needs to be ruled out after urine test. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Rakhi Tayal , drrakhitayal@gmail.com
Hi, Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. After Novasure ablation in over 90% of women menstrual bleeding is dramatically reduced or stopped. So, this probably is the reason of your not having periods. Pregnancy is very unlikely be a reason. I think you should resolve your doubts by doing formal testing. Take care.
