Due To Cylindrical Powers On Both Eyes Are 0.5 There Is Frequent Headache
hi, my son is 7 years old. recently he has been complaining of frequent headaches. on getting his eyes tested, the doc said he has cylindrical power 0.5 in both eyes. but only after 6 months the doc shall recheck and get him glasses. but his headaches are still there. any way to get rid of his headaches?
Hello It seems from the history that your son is having frequent headaches and on examination he is found to have cylindrical power of 0.5 dioptres in both the eyes. This is astigmatism and astigmatism is one of the causes for headache. In fact small amount of astigmatism will produce maximum headache. Since he is 7 years old correction need to be given as any refractive error in this age will increase rapidly if correction is not given and it can cause ambylopia also. But in children the refraction has to be done using cycloolegic eye drops like atropine. Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for estimation of refractive error and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
