Early Onset Of Paroxsymal AF, TSH 6.98. History Of Stopping Synthroid For Sometime. Connection?
Hi, I was recently admitted to ER for paroxsysmal AF early onset. I also found out that my TSH was 6.98. I had been on synthroid for 25 yrs but MD FELT THAT because Istill had half of my thyroid I could go without Synthroid so we gave it a try. Not good! Is there any correlation between AF episode and hypothyroidism?
Hi, with hyper thyroidism, one can have hypertension, or atrial fibrilation, or other cardiac problems. The doctor that is why kept a trial of avoiding synthroid. If the thyroid levels are maintained, you may avoid the pills. And there is less possibility of getting the cardiac ischemia. If not under controle again you should use the pills, or some other alternative. Thank you.
