Ears Ringing Due To Ear Infection. Will Peeling Of Ear Drum And Reconstructing Will Help?

I am 54 years old and have lots and lots of diffent ear infections over 20 years. When it started I saw over 15 ear specialist and they all did different things. Finally when I moved an allergy specialist started me on shots and I did well. Then I moved and have went to couple other specialist. Ringing all the time and then it will pop with pus which makes it feel better and the ringing gets softer. This last doctor I went to wants to peel the ear drum and reconstruct with my ear lobe. Hello dear,
After going through your history, I believe you have some genuine concern and I will try to help you out of this situation.

Ringing in the ear signifies the weakness of the auditory nerve ( The nerve for hearing). The signal arising from this weakness is perceived as sound by the brain and when we think about the ringing sensation more, the brain will process it more and more and the discomfort level will rise in time.

So why your auditory nerve got weakened? 2 factors. (1) Your age and (2) there might be defect in your drum for which your doctor might be asking for surgery.

You can argue that if age is the factor, then why not all the people of your age are having the same problem. The answer is this phenomenon varies person to person, like when two person get similar injury, they feel different intensity of pain. The solution is do not pay attention to the sound so that it will train the brain not to focus to the signal. But it will take take months to improve in this method. secondly try to listen to music when the surrounding is calm.

For the second factor I said, i.e. Defect in ear drum, please do for surgery if your doctor confirms you that there is a defect. In in intact drum surgey will have no role and you will end up in financial loss as well as loss in peace of mind.

I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.

Thank you for the way you are in my life.
