My current doctor schedule me for a Transthoracic Echo this will be my third ECHO I was informed of a Mitral Valve disease ICD-424.0. A heart specialist informed me not to worry about the leakage wait until it get worse I have a problem with that can you assist me.
Hi
mitral valve regurgitaion is well tolerated disease of heart valve , and leakage wiil increase slowly
over long period of time and required active intervention in future when left ventricular function start compromising till that time medicine will enough
be regular in your follow up visit and severity of mitral regurgitation will be asses maily by echo test
so you required regular echo test also
take care
Hi,
You are having some leakage in your mitral valve which is valve between chambers of left side that is left atrium and left ventricle.
ICD-396 -3 and ICD-424-0 are codes for mitral regurgitation.
ICD 424 indicate mitral valve disorder there are various causes for regurgitation for example if it is due to MVP ( Mitral valve Prolapse) it is well tolerated and remain compensated for many years and only if left ventricular failure starts some intervention may be required, so do not worry about this condition
There are some precautions are to be taken which will be advised by your cardiologist that is to take antibiotic prophylaxis before any minor procedure as simple as tooth extraction or endoscopy if required.
Hope this information will help you
Good luck to you
