Elbow Pain, Weakness In Thumb. What Is Wrong?

I am 17 years old and a left handed pitcher. In June I was pitching and felt a sharp pain in my elbow . The next day it was extremely soar and tight with bad pain. My inner elbow was swollen. So I took 3 weeks off. I then pitched in a gain where I felt the pain in the beginning of the game till the 5th inning and then stopped. The pain this time was not as bad. I took another 3 weeks off and started throwing short bullpens. Last week I felt the pain again around the 45th pitch but yet again it was not as bad. I did notice a decrease in velocity after the first bullpen with no improvement. Today as I was throwing I now felt weakness in my thumb . What do you think is wrong?

Hi and welcome to HCM
Weakness in your thumb seems to be related to nerve compression. Elbow pain and swelling could be due to tendinitis or strain. Giving rest to the elbow and electro diagnostic test will be helpful.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care.
