Enlarged Aorta, Haemochromatosis. Risks Of Surgery And Life Span?

My husband has an enlarged aorta , cause unknown. He has been tested for Marfans, but although he has a lot of the physical symptoms of it, does not appear to have it. His aorta has increased in size very quickly. His cardiologist is talking about putting a cage around the aorta to prevent further enlargement. What are the risks of surgery , and will this problem shorten his life span ? He is otherwise fir and healthy, but does have haemochromatosis.

Hello! As I have carefully reviewed your discussion about the problem, I would like to suggest you some very important aspects related to your husband.
The problem seems to be of acute 'dissection of the aorta', which is considered an emergency medical problem! & generally has a fatal outcome.
However, you need not worry much because their are advanced surgical treatments available to day!
You must immediately approach the eminent cardiovascular surgeon & get the surgery done urgently!
