Enlarged Tummy. Ultrasound Shows Fluid In Douglas Pouch, Increased TSH. Cause?
hi, i am 52 years old. recently my tummy has become quite big..i look 9 months pregnant. i got an ultrasound 2 months back when my tummy had started to become big and it showed presence of fluid in pouch of douglas. i also got a TSH ( thyroid test) few days back and it showed increased thyroid of 6.86 around when the normal range was till 5.00.. what could be the cause of this increase in my tummy size..and presence of this fluid in my pouch of douglas-is it normal?
Dear .fluid in pouch of Douglas is suggestive of some pelvic inflammatory disease or it occur in hypothyroidism also.to confirm the diagnosis a complete pelvic examination is required and we can send cervical swab culture also. Increase in body weight with decreased appetite is feature of hypothyroidism but their are few other symptoms also such as fatigue, dry skin, loss of hair ,constipation and cold sensitivity etc .Increase in TSH level up to 10 is called as subclinical hypothyroidism . In this situation whether treatment is required or not depend on certain factors such as positive anti TPO ANTIBODY test or sign and systems suggestive of hypothyroidism that can not be explained by any other conditions .increase in your tummy size could be simple manifestation of obesity apart from this their are few conditions such as cushing syndrome depression certain drugs can cause this.we need to ask few questions and do complete physical examination . If needed few blood test can be ordered . Hope this will help
