Excessive Weight Gain. Have Hirsutism, PCOS And Thyroid Problem. Not Pregnant. White Discharge From The Breasts. Anything Serious?
Hi, I am a 30 year unmarried female. I have had excessive weight gain in the last five years along with increasing incidence of hirsutism . 2 years ago, i missed 3 periods in a row and was advised to test for PCOS and thyroid as well. No cysts were found in the ultrasound. Thyroid levels were in the normal range as well. I did a thryroid test recently as well but the levels are still normal. Three months ago, i found milk discharge in my breasts and i have never been pregnant. What can be the problem and are there any quick remedies?
The symptoms of excessive weight gain and milk discharge from nipples indicates some pathology of anterior pituitary.
The possibilities of polycystic ovarian syndrome and thyroid abnormality is ruled out by normal ovaries on ultrasound and normal thyroid hormonal profile.
Increase in level of prolactin hormone causes milk discharge from nipples.
Anterior pituitary secretes other hormones also. Concomitent over-secretion of other hormones can lead to weight gain.
Consult an endocrinologist for investigations and management.
Thanks and take care
