Eye Injury, Swollen, Painful, Redness. Seeing Black Dot In The Center. Should I Be Worried?
okay, so withing 24 hours, i was recently punched in the eye several times. my eye is not too swollen, theirs a kinda throbbin pain on it, and my eye is a little red. but the thing thats making me nervous is im seeing a black dot in the center or a little bit more to the right of my eye. its not always their but it usually comes when im in brightlight like outside in the morning, or looking at a whitescreen, and its less visible when i have my glasses on, now should i be worried about this or will it eventually go away.

You are most probably suffering from subconjunctival haemorrhage with black eye and macular oedema. Subconjunctival haemorrhage and black eye are self limiting conditions and need only hot fomentation and vitamin C tablets. Macular oedema if present is a comparatively serious condition and it involves that visual part of retina for which you should get a fundoscopy done by a eye surgeon and take appropriate treatment.

It is indeed very unfortunate to have been hit in the eye. A blunt injury such as a fist injury can cause a swelling in the back of the eye called as berlin's edema. This can be confirmed by a dilated eye exam by an ophthalmologist. If present it can be treated with the help of anti-inflammatory eye drops. If the retina is found to be normal then this black spot ( which probably floats) could be explained by the presence of a PVD- posterior vitreous detachment ( probably due to the injury). It is better to visit an ophthalmologist at this stage to confirm the above.
