Eye Seems Black, No Instance Of Injury. What Could Be The Cause?

My right eye got black for no reason. Looks like i was punched in the eye. Very black and purple. Didn t do anything to cause it....just cam on in afternoon....had a bit of swelling on cheekbone....that went away. This is 4th day.....think it is getting a bit better.....look like i was in a fight....no pain...what happened to me?

Dear Welch,Hi,Black eye without any reason may be due to preseptal cellulitis,allergy,subconjuctival hemorrhage due to beeding disorders,high BP or constipation and inadvertent trauma while sleeping.If there is no pain and itching you can rule out allergy and preseptal cellulitis.Check for your BP and see if you are suffering from constipation.Do a basic blood investigation to rule out any bleeding disorders.Trauma to your eye may happen while sleeping alone or with children when you are hit unknowingly with hand at night.These are some of the probable cause of black eye without any fight .If it is resolving it's good and ll go in 3weeks.If it recurs definitely show a physician or an ophthalmologist....TC..dr Ajay Shankar Kar
