Hi there, me and my boyfriend we wanna get married, we are having big problem my boyfriend's family having inherited diabetes disease. His father's family and his mother's family they both have, his father have and his mother too. We are really scared if we have baby. I wanna know what is the possibilities for them to have because it's inherited disease? Please help me to find an answer for this it's really urgent?
If he has a strong history of diabetes then there is a 50% chance of your children having diabetes however that completely depends on the type of inheritance. As your boyfriends family has diabetes but he doesnt, as he inherits one gene from father and one gene from mother. But in your case he may have that gene but you dont the chances becomes very less. What i believe is that you should see an endocrinologist and he will be able to counsel you properly looking at the inheritance pattern
