Feeling Sick With Severe Diarrhoea And Vomiting After Eating Salmon With Wine. Is It Food Poisoning?
My friend became very sick with severe diarrhea and vomiting that smelled overwhelmingly of ammonia. What would cause that. We just think that she got food poisoning somehow but that ammonia smell was so strong. She hardly ever has any alcohol but had ine glass of wine that night, salmon, and brussel sprouts. I had the same. Any ideas would be appreciated.
dear sir, your history suggests that it's just a case of food poisoning. fish can be a common source of food poisoning. as with any case of diarrhea / vomiting the major problem will be dehydration along with electrolyte loss. would advise adequate fluid replenishment i.e., up to 200 ml for each episode with standard oral re hydration (ORS) therapy. do not go for antibiotics unless you are running temperature. gut rehabilitation therapy with lactobacillus / saccharomyces are helpful. the symptoms often subside within 48 hours.
