Fever. Typhoid Test Positive, Pus Cells In Urine. Prescribed Cefiximine And Oflaxcin. UTI And Typhoid Both Infections?
is it possible that UTI and typhoid both infections are due to one kind of bacteria.MY 19 month old daughter is suffering from fever for last 8 days. Her urine report 4-6 puscells and typhi dot m test is weakly+ive, malaria test -ive.doctor has prescribed ceffixime and ofloxacin.but there is no relief from fever. It arises in the evening and normal in the morning.
Welcome to HCM Greetings of the day For your first query, the answer is no- typhoid is caused by S Typhi and UTI is caused by many other bacteria. As there is no relief of fever even after starting antibiotics for more than 48 hours, it means the bacteria causing UTI are not suspectible to the antibiotics used or they are resistant to it. Change of antibiotic depending on Urine culture and sensitivity report is required. Get Ultrasound of Kidney and urinary bladder done to rule out infection in kidney which requires intravenous antibiotics. Do let me know the report and progress of the baby. Take Care Regards
Get a urine culture and sensitivity done of your child.then it will be clear by which bacteria this urine infection has been caused and by which antibiotic it will be killed.maintain a temperature chart of your baby.cefixime is drug of choice for both UTI and Typhoid,so it should cover both.
