Fever, Muscle Pain, Weakness In Lower Back. Monocytes Count High. What Could Be Causing This Fever?

I have had a fever which spikes to 101.8F at least 3 times a day. The fever spikes have been as high as 103.5F. I am a 33 y/o female and this has persisted for 13 days. Aside from muscle pain and weakness (particularly the lower back) there are no other symptoms. Monocytes count is high, and I had mono when I was 22. What could be causing this fever? And how much longer til it is gone?!?!?

Hi
Thank you for your question.

For fever of 13 days, investigations will need to be done. Particularly urine analysis, ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis and further tests if needed. A physician can perform a clinical examination to determine if the cause is in your back vertebrae or it is myalgia associated with systemic disease. Possibility of urinary tract infection is high if there are any associated urinary symptoms. The cause of fever and how long will it last can only be decided on examination and above mentioned tests.

Hope this is helpful.
