Hello, The sequence of event that developed in your case is more indicating towards a condition known as Chilblains in which there is damage of capillary bed in the skin due to prolonged cold exposure but it should be distinguished by a condition known as Frostbite in which there is constriction of blood vessels near to exposed area leading to shunting of blood away from that area causing skin damage. Both chilblains and frostbite can occur due to idiopathic cause or may be secondary to connective tissue disease. So, you should consult a physician for further evaluation. you should keep the area warm, topical steroid to control itching, do not rub or massage the area, nifedipine can be used in severe and recurrent cases. Take care, bye.
