Fluctuating Pulse Rate Throughout The Day. What Is The Cause?
Between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM last night. I took my blood pressure twice. I was feeling wierd. The first reading was 107/84 and a pulse rate of 109! The second was 127/107 and a pulse rate of 84! I forgot about making supper and just sat down for about a half hour and then felt less wierd so I made supper. I took it again at 8:30 PM it was 112/60 and pulse rate of 60.
Hi there,
Thanks for writing to healthcaremagic.com.
I am a qualified and certified cardiologist. I read your question with diligence. Human heart beats for about 70 times a minute that means about 100,000 times a day and 2.3 billion times during an average life span. Change (what is referred here as fluctuation) is a sign of life. Heart is not a mechanical clock that it will beat with same pressure every time after same number of miliseconds; it is living organ responding to needs of other organs which it supports with circulation. That established now we come to your question rate of 60 is normal so is 84; 109 is more but there might be need for more blood flow. Blood pressure of 107/84 is normal and so is 112/60 is normal. 127/107 is high if you get more such high readings even once in three times you are suffering from high BP and perhaps need treatment. Please see a doctor with BP record. There is nothing weird and there is no reason that you should feel perturbed for this normal phenomenon. Good Luck
With Best Wishes
