Hello,
The ovum remains viable for one day after ovulation while spermatozoa remain active up to 5-7 days after release. Defective penile erection has many reasons, psychological factor being the most important. The condition has to be assessed by an andrologist and treated if the problem persists and poses a serious problem. Please consult your doctor for further advice. Good luck.
